Step counter

Post by Roderik » 21 Sep 2018 13:07

Since my car is parked a long way from my office, I thought this would be a good opportunity to test the step counter:
I counted 600 steps exactly. My ZeTime said 482. That's about 25% off

Maybe the motion sensor should have an ajustable sensitivity?

PS: I'll double check this afternoon, when I walk back to my car

Hello,

I would recommend reset of the watch before second test. I noticed that my ZeTime step counter starts to be very inaccurate when I switch off the watch and turn on it again. Only hard reset helps in this case and after doing this pedometer works fine and its accuracy is good too.

I sent description of this issue to MK Support but I don't get any answer from them. Maybe will fix in firmware update as on previous version of the software turning off and on did not have impact on step counter accuracy.

Kind Regards!

Hello,
One day last week I walked a distance of 5.09 km, measured by GPS-recording.
The pedometer has registered just 2240 steps at this distance.
It is not difficult to see that a calculated step length of 2.27m is far from a realistic size.

The answer from the customer support is just a bad joke.
I should do a hard reset of the watch and make sure I'm wearing the watch properly on my wrist of the non-dominant hand.

They do not even think about that a component of the watch is defective.

Kind regards!

... a calculated step length of 2.27m ...
You have loooong legs!

What distance did ZeTime report?
I would expect ~2km, which would correspond with a more regular step length

My hunch is that the sensor isn't sensitive enough, this case would support that

I've tested my ZeTime against my Polar watch with GPS. The ZeTime is usually off by about .5km when i do my usual 5km walk with the dog. Not great but not too bad either considering it's non-gps measuring.
